Behind-the-scenes

Being a no-budget film, we were lucky enough to gather quite a handful of equipment from various places. This was the first time I brought my new Accsoon Cineview SE on set, and it’d proven itself to be a splendid tool. It has a surprisingly negligible delay for the cost; the crew appreciated the feed they got on the laptop; and I was using the feed from my phone far more than I thought I would. False color was great and accurate, the connection was very stable with minimal lag and delay (honestly through the wifi signal, I could barely notice any delay), I could get a quick snapshot of the monitor when I needed to, and most importantly, I could reposition or bring it with me freely when I had to mess around with the lights and props without worrying about cables. The distance was decent as well - we were shooting a shot where the camera was outside downstairs looking up at the balcony and our AC was inside the apartment - the signal kept just fine without any drop frames.

As far as lighting goes, we had a 575w HMI, a Forza 300bi, 2 Amaran 200d’s, 1 Godox 100w, 2 Godox 60w’s, and some tube lights. Sounds like a lot of moving parts for a small crew, but most of the lights were not very powerful. Luckily, this was one of the productions where the weather was actually perfect. It was overcast/sunny exactly at the point we needed it to be. Our apartment (which was the only option we had) was facing south, and if it was sunny, the set would’ve been horrendous.

We shot this film on the Z Cam E2 paired with a number of lenses: Samyang Cine DS (24, 50, 85mm t/1.5), Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8, and Sigma 100mm f/2.8 Macro, all paired with a 0.64x speedbooster.
