Behind-the-scenes
We shot this film on the Z Cam E2 paired with the Sigma 18-35/1.8 mostly, and some shots were done on either the Canon 24-105/4 or the Sigma 30/1.4 paired with the Aivascope 1.75x anamorphic adapter.
For lighting, we used the Godox SL100bi, Godox FL150s, and the Falcon Eyes RX-18TD as our main sources, and then we had 2x Godox TL60s and 2x Pavotube30c’s as our mobile kicker sources.
The story plays out mostly in a single room around the bed, and 1 smaller scene in another bedroom. We built our set and lighting plan around the main room, and for this the SL100bi was mounted on a Junior Boom arm as the top/back light for all the scenes - reason being that we could control it via bluetooth, and the light is bi-color, meaning that it’s very versatile and was practically used for both day and evening sequences. The 2 flexible light mats were also extremely helpful as they were super lightweight while packed with a decent amount of power, and this means that we can just simple have them mounted on a aluminum light stand and take them around with absolute ease. And just like the SL100bi, they’re bi-color lights, making them very versatile for many different story setups. And lastly, our mightly lightsabers were highly invaluable - powerful, light, and packed with wireless control capability as well as the many color settings they have, these had been such mighty tools that helped quickly adding a backlight or extending the fill on the actors’s faces. And in case you haven’t noticed, we trashbagged the entire ceiling to minimize the amount of spill we’ll get.
The Accsoon CineviewSE, once again, shined bright and opened so many possibilities to the crew - extremely reliable, low latency, ease of use, and the amazing phone app. If anything, this set can be wrapped in 1 word: efficiency. Personally, I think phones and tablets should definitely be integrated more into professional sets. They’ve gotten so good these days, and with the right app and system, can totally become a professional field monitor with all the functionalities that you can think of.
